Mission + Business Impact

Mission

As a socially and environmentally conscious individual, I am committed to making a positive impact through my architecture and interior photography. As a women-owned business, I am dedicated to collaborating with women, minority and diversity owned businesses, and I will continue to increase the percentage of these businesses that I work with. Additionally, I am passionate about sustainable architecture, development and design, and I strive to take on more projects that align with this interest. My ultimate goal is to create a lasting and meaningful impact on both the society and environment through my work.

Business Impact and Goals

Business

I have been contemplating my personal aspirations of making a positive impact on society and the environment, and exploring how I can reflect these values through my photography business. This has led me to redefine some basics around what I do and why.

To define my purpose, I am a socially and environmentally conscious architecture and interiors photographer committed to collaborating with women, minority and diversity-owned businesses, and promoting sustainable design for a meaningful impact on society and the environment.

Ethical Guidelines

In addition to my mission statement and commitment, I have created a code of ethics, which you can read here and policies on ethical privacy and data collection, which you can find here.

Banking

Choosing mindfully who to bank with, and where your super is being invested, is one of the most powerful ways you can use your money to match your values. My goal for 2023 is to find an active B Corp bank to switch to.

Clients

Now that I’ve defined the type of businesses I want to help succeed, I will continue to increase the percentage of women, minority and diversity owned businesses I collaborate with.

I will also work to increase the percentage of sustainable architecture, development and design clients that I work with. This will allow me to maximize the difference I can make for others doing good in our world

For 2023, a goal will be to create a valuable feedback tool utilizing a client survey and specific targets to receive performance and client satisfaction feedback. The results will be analyzed at the end of the year to determine if I meet these targets. if I met these targets.

Community

I will consciously consider my impact more broadly by spending money with intention, supporting small and local businesses, and supporting female or diverse/minority-owned companies. For 2023, my goals include making my website accessible for those with disabilities, creating an ethical procurement policy, and setting formal targets for using suppliers that are local and from women and underrepresented groups.

Pro Bono

In 2023, I will formalize my commitment to volunteering by creating a pro-bono policy as well as dedicating time to two pro-bono projects, allowing me to increase my work for non-profits and impact-focused organizations. I will offer my services to purpose-driven start-ups, charities or NGOs, with a focus on women-owned, First Nations-owned, migrant-owned, and LGBTQIA+ owned businesses or not-for-profits.

Giving

As a responsible business, I think it is my duty to donate some of my profit. I will create a charitable giving policy in 2023 and commit to donate at least 1% of my revenue annually to charitable causes.

Environment

Growing up surfing and a frequent beach goer on Long Island, NY, I am painfully aware of the destruction of our natural world that occurs every day. The question is, what impact can I make through my business?

For 2023, I will begin to calculate my carbon footprint in both my business and household since I am a one-person business who works from home. My goal is to work towards being carbon neutral, and we have already begun this by using reusable grocery bags and reusable water bottles for years, going solar on our family home in late-2019, and started limiting and recycling single-use plastic in 2020, but we have more work to do. I have also begun the process of becoming a certified B Corporation!
